Toronto FC are due to lock horns with German club Werder Bremen. Both clubs would like to sign Toronto-born talent Luka Kulenović.
We are soon approaching the commencement of the 2025 MLS season. After what feels like a lifetime away, the Reds will kick off away from home against DC United at the end of February.
However, as it stands, Toronto are without a striker who can lead them to glory this season. Due to losing Prince Owusu to Montreal, the Reds find themselves in a position of needing a front-man for the campaign ahead.
However, fear not Reds, as a new striker has been linked to Toronto... A city he knows very well.
According to a report by Markaj News, Toronto-born striker Luka Kulenović is attracting interest form both Toronto FC and German side Werder Bremen.
Markaj News says: "Heracles Almelo striker, Luka Kulenović, is attracting heavy interest from two clubs. Toronto FC and Werder Bremen have already inquired about the 25 year-old for a potential move this January. The Toronto-born Bosnian international is happy in the Eredivisie and would ultimately like to finish the season with Heracles, although, nothing is ruled out."
Currently, the striker plays for Heracles Almelo. Making only 12 league appearances, he has returned an impressive six goals already.
At this point in his career, Kulenović has only played in Europe. In 2021, he won the First League of the RS with Rudar Prijedor. However, his great goal-scoring ability has always warranted more.
Kulenović represents the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. That said, he was born in Toronto and this might prove pivotal in his choice about which club to represent next.
Or maybe this is just wishful thinking. As mentioned, it is hard to envision much success for the Reds this season without a striker being signed. Since Kulenović has a proven track record of scoring goals in Europe, he would be a welcomed addition to the roster.
Let's see how serious the Red are about signing Kulenović. After all, this could easily be gossip at this stage.
