A lovely dribble by Trent ended with a through ball to a waiting Diaz who was able to finish from just outside the six-yard box.

This pass became Trent’s 81st assist for Liverpool and took him to the 100 mark for goals and assists in all competitions for Liverpool.

Trent’s impressive numbers

Liverpool supporters have known all about how good Trent is for years now, but this season he’s once again proving it to everyone.

Having received back-to-back Player of the Match awards whilst on international duty with England, Trent has continued his sensational form by picking up assists against AC Milan and Bournemouth.

The 25-year-old also now sits third in the list of players with the most Premier League assists for Liverpool, moving above Steve McManaman.

Trent’s assist against Bournemouth also moved him back level with teammate Andy Robertson as the defenders with the most assists in Premier League history.

Trent’s contract situation

The grey cloud sitting over Trent’s impressive start to the season is the fact that this could be his last campaign in a Liverpool shirt.

The vice-captain is out of contract at the end of this season and Real Madrid are reportedly trying to tempt him away from his boyhood club.

It is believed that negotiations will open soon over a new contract, but the Reds might be worried that Trent’s great form will attract even more interest.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are also both out of contract at the end of the season and supporters will want the trio’s futures secured as soon as possible.

Trent seems to be enjoying life under Slot and, despite what was perceived to be a falling-out between the pair earlier in the season, the defender is proving why he should be considered one of the best in the world.
