Failure to qualify for European competitions next season will have a huge impact on AC Milan’s finances, given the loss of revenues.

Milan’s defeat in the Coppa Italia final not only saw a trophy vanish and a drought continue, it meant that direct qualification for the Europa League vanished too. A top five finish in the league is virtually impossible, so now a very important summer rebuild awaits, but with what budget?

A gaping hole in the accounts

Tuttosport (via MilanPress) this morning estimate that Milan will lose around €100m, as things stand. More specifically, that is how much Milan will miss out on without qualifying for European competition next season, the result of a sum of the UEFA revenues and box office receipts for home games.

It will be a void that will weigh on the club’s accounts next season, the newspaper writes. The Rossoneri also said goodbye to €2.6m with the defeat in the Coppa Italia final, receiving only €2m because they were runners up.

In the last two transfer windows – summer 2024 and the recent winter window – around €120m was invested and less than half of that was collected from sales. For this reason, the club will have to recover this amount, probably through the sale of some players.
