Two miss out as Athletic Club return to training after Christmas break | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Athletic Club kicked the club’s post-Christmas break training schedule into gear on Sunday afternoon.

And, two players aside, Ernesto Valverde was able to count on a full complement of stars for the session.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, absent entirely was Oihan Sancet, the midfielder having been diagnosed with ‘a sprain in the internal lateral ligament of his right ankle’ suffered against Osasuna last weekend.

And also not part of the group was Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta.

The 31-year-old is dealing with a left hamstring injury at present, put through an individualised session by physical therapist Xabi Clemente as a result.

Both Sancet and Ruiz de Galarreta, in turn, are considered doubts to feature in Athletic’s first outing of the new year.

Los Leones will mark their return to competitive action on January 4th, in a Copa del Rey meeting with minnows UD Logroñés.
