There was good news this week for Manchester City as Oscar Bobb and Ruben Dias returned to training. Both player’s return to fitness is welcome news for Pep Guardiola and his team. Although Bobb and Dias have returned to training, there were questions about their availability for City’s FA Cup third-round tie against Salford City. Speaking during his pre-game press conference Pep Guardiola told the media that neither player will be ready to play this weekend.
Speaking ahead of his team’s clash with Salford City, Guardiola was asked about Bobb’s return to training. Guardiola explained: “He is training with the team partially. That’s good news for us. It was a fractured bone. Now that is healed, he’s fine but good news is he’s back.”
Pep Guardiola also told the media that while Ruben Dias is training he isn’t yet ready to play. He explained when asked if Dias would be ready for the clash with Salford City at the Etihad: “Not yet. He feels better but not ready. I don’t know when.”
John Stones and Ederson were the other fitness concerns for Manchester City ahead of this weekend’s match. There was mixed news on the status of the pair from Guardiola. He said Ederson is fit to play, but John Stones is not. When asked about the duo’s availability, Guardiola answered: “Ederson is fine, but John Stones, no.”
The good news for Manchester City is that Oscar Bobb and Ruben Dias are back training. But this weekend’s match has come too soon for the pair to return to the pitch. Ederson’s return to fitness is good news although the situation surrounding John Stones continues to be a concern going forward for Manchester City.
