Inter Milan remain keen to secure a new defender next summer and are targeting Udinese’s Jaka Bijol and Atalanta’s Isak Hien.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, and via FCInter1908.it, the Nerazzurri are looking to move on from veterans Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij at the end of the season.

Whilst neither player has looked off the pace or struggled to perform this term, Acerbi and De Vrij are reaching the latter stages of their careers, turning 37 and 33 in February respectively.

As such, Inter are keen to secure a younger defender who can slot into the backline and Bijol certainly fits the bill.

The Slovenian has attracted attention from AC Milan after an impressive season with Udinese, and accustomed to playing in a back three favoured by Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, he is high on the Nerazzurri’s wishlist.

However, Udinese are reluctant to let him leave in January and would only entertain offers of €30 million in the summer, particularly amidst interest from the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Hien has become a key figure at Atalanta and Inzaghi is thought to have been hugely impressed by him.

The Swede is physically dominant and Inter consider him reminiscent of Juventus defender Bremer, having tried to sign him from Torino two years ago.

Atalanta would expect €35m for the former Hellas Verona man, and it remains to be seen if Inter would be willing to part with that.

Alternatively, they may look at Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior, with the Gunners ready to sell in the summer for €25m plus bonuses.
