It was a rollercoaster of emotions for Ruben Amorim during his maiden outing in the dugout for Manchester United last night.

A dream start saw the Reds open the scoring inside two minutes at Portman Road thanks to Marcus Rashford’s second Premier League goal of the campaign, and while he was in the right place at the right time to tap it past Arijanet Muric, credit must be given to Amad Diallo, whose tremendous run up the pitch created the opener out of relatively nothing.

United continued knocking on the door to quickly add to their lead, though it was ultimately to no avail, with their best efforts rendered in vain when Omari Hutchinson levelled the pegging just moments shy of half time with a scintillating finish past the ever-present Andre Onana.

Alas, the ex-Chelsea man’s contribution set the tie up for a cagey affair after the interval. Both sides’ relentless efforts were unrewarded, leaving Amorim and Kieran McKenna to settle for a point apiece when Anthony Taylor blew for full-time in East Anglia.

Revealed: Why Casemiro left Amorim ‘disgusted’

Amorim displayed a muted reaction to Rashford’s early goal but was considerably more animated when Hutchinson found the back of the net. Lewis Jones, who was covering the evening’s affairs on Sky Sports’ broadcast, also highlighted a moment fans may have missed involving the new head coach and Casemiro.

Around the 18th-minute mark, the midfielder sloppily passed the ball out of player despite being under little to no pressure – and Amorim was far from impressed, with Jones going as far as to say he looked ‘disgusted’ at Casemiro, who is United’s highest earner.

“He is your typical modern-day manager, is Amorim, in terms of his demeanour on the touchline,” Jones said. “He feels every touch, every challenge and gives away plenty of emotion with his reactions. For example, looking disgusted as Casemiro sends a ball straight out of play.”
