Having won the UEFA Super Cup in August, Real Madrid are going for their second trophy of the season against Pachuca in the final of the Intercontinental Cup, which is taking place in Doha, Qatar. Just before half time, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have managed to strike the first blow.
Kylian Mbappe missed the weekend draw at Rayo Vallecano because of injury, and although he was initially expected to miss out against Pachuca, he recovered quickly enough to start. He is the one that has opened the scoring.
It’s a very well-worked team goal by Real Madrid, with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior involved before Mbappe applied the finish. That is his third goal in three consecutive matches, after notching against Girona and Atalanta.
It had not been the most convincing performance in the opening 37 minutes from Real Madrid, but that matters little now as they are ahead. Can they hold on to this advantage?
