Carlos Soler is making the most of his minutes at West Ham United. However, his time with the Hammers may come to an end after just one season.
Soler recognized he needed a fresh start this summer to secure regular playing time. Despite interest from several clubs during the transfer window, West Ham sealed the deal on deadline day.
As reported by Claret and Hugh last October, the move is strictly a loan, with no option for West Ham to buy. A senior club official confirmed, “Soler is just here on loan with absolutely no obligation for us to buy.”
With his high wages and PSG’s steep asking price, any deal over £1 million would require board approval, making a permanent transfer unlikely. But now, that may be about to change.

Claret and Hugh relayed the information regarding how the wage structure is for Soler’s loan spell with the Hammers. PSG are believed to be covering £160,000 per week of Carlos Soler’s wages, which accounts for just 33 percent of his total pay at the French club.
The Hammers signed Soler on a season-long loan at the end of August last year, with the deal worth around €4 million, or about £80,000 per week for the duration of the loan.
West Ham also have an option to buy Soler for £16.5 million (€20 million), but it’s unlikely they will exercise it, as the player is expected to hold out for his £240,000 wage demands.
The same outlet previously reported that the transfer fee, just under €20 million, isn’t the main obstacle. However, Soler’s high wages make a potential deal difficult.
Additionally, Soler is viewed as a signing made by Julen Lopetegui, which makes it unlikely he’ll have a long-term future under Graham Potter, who’s still assessing his inherited West Ham squad.
