In 2023, Marco Verratti joined Qatari club Al-Arabi, bringing an end to his 11-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain.

The transfer, reportedly worth around €45 million (£38.6 million), set a new record for the Qatar league, but could the veteran be returning to European football in the summer?

Verratti is nearing two years in Qatar and the 32-year-old might want the final years of his career playing at the highest level, especially if he wants to be part of an Italian squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America next year.

If the 2021 UEFA Euro winner, whose contract with Al-Arabi ends this summer, wants to play in a World Cup, then a move back to European football is a must, and he does have suitors.

What clubs are interested in Marco Verratti?

West Ham, Bournemouth and Fulham have all joined the race to sign, according to TBR Football. The report also mentions that Verratti attracted interest during the winter transfer window and could be heading to the Premier League.

Moreover, the midfielder is weighing a return to Europe after his move to Al-Arabi from PSG in September 2023, where he has since made 30 appearances for the Qatari club, per the report.

Should Verratti decide to leave Qatar to join the Hammers, he could reunite with Carlos Soler if West Ham keeps him past this initial loan spell.
