For some Leicester City supporters, things at the club have gotten so bad that they want LCFC bosses to recognise their discontent. And, in many ways, I empathise with the disgruntled section of Foxes fans. One or two of the reasons for protesting prior to the Arsenal fixture are slightly reaching. Yet on the whole, the Blue Army are arguably right to protest practices on Filbert Way, a lack of transparency, along with consistently poor decision making.
An apparently large group from the City faithful will march around Saturday lunchtime. The movement will transpire before playing the Gunners as not to disrupt the match too much. But why have fans chosen now to begin objecting to hierarchy operations on the precipice of an important match? Does the entire loyal Leicester fan base agree with mass dissent? And, if you agree with this Project Reset manifesto, how can you get involved in proceedings?
When I heard of the planned public show of dissatisfaction towards LCFC director of football Jon Rudkin, I wasn't surprised at all. Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha's uneven handling of affairs in recent years shouldn't go unnoticed either. But I wasn't expecting the outcry to be so hush-hush and clandestine.
The only thing missing from the organisation were codewords and secret passages. 'Organisers wish to remain anonymous because they say they fear repercussions from the club', states the notice sent to outlet The Athletic. Do they merely fear tickets being confiscated? Or are the King Power outfit suddenly akin to the KGB (now the FSB)?
The covert statement contained 'The Five Dysfunctions of a Failing Football Club'. And I must say that this declaration was eloquent, concise and pretty accurate:
"The absence of trust — a lack of transparency and communication from the club to the fansFear of conflict — a reluctance to make quick and impactful decisions since the death of Khun VichaiA lack of commitment — ‘a loss of any long-standing semblance of a footballing identity’Avoidance of accountability — that the same decision-makers remain in place after the 2023 relegation and that Rudkin’s vision for the football operation has not been communicated to the supportersInattention to results — that the club is on a spiralling trend that the hierarchy have not taken action to address, leaving many fans resigned to what they feel is an inevitable relegation unless immediate action is taken"The Athletic
