Worst Leeds United performers in Saturday’s FA Cup loss to Millwall | OneFootball

Leeds United lost 2-0 to Millwall on Saturday to crash out of the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The Whites boss Daniel Farke made a wholesome change to the side that won against Coventry City in midweek, something which Sports View had predicted.

Millwall made a bright start in the Elland Road encounter, and got the breakthrough in the 30th minute through Femi Azeez’s deflected shot.

The 23-year-old threatened to score again but his effort off the crossbar didn’t cross the line.

However, Azeez bagged his second early in the second-half when he raced through on goal and drilled into the far corner.

Leeds were handed a brilliant opportunity to make a comeback when Willy Gnonto won a penalty, but Pascal Struijk couldn’t convert the spot-kick.

There were many poor performances from the Yorkshire outfit, but we believe the below three were the worst of all.

Ethan Ampadu

The Wales international was the only player to keep his place in the team after Coventry win, but he put in a disappointing display in front of their home crowd on Saturday. Ampadu gifted possession to Azeez on the edge of the box and needed the crossbar to bail him out.

The centre-back had 118 touches in the game, but won five of his eight total duels. He also committed a foul and lost the ball on 11 occasions.

Josuha Guilavogui

The Frenchman joined Leeds United in the summer, but he has been on the fringes of the squad this season. Guilavogui had an opportunity to prove a point to Farke, but he completely failed to impress with his performance.

The 34-year-old cannot be blamed for his deflection for the opening goal, but the same cannot be said when he lost the ball again for Millwall’s second. The midfielder was very lucky to be on the pitch after a horrible lunge into Casper De Norre’s ankle.

Mateo Joseph

It was also a great opportunity for Mateo Joseph to impress his manager but the forward made very little impact for his side on Saturday. Although he didn’t receive a lot of service, Joseph offered little presence at the head of attack.

The Spaniard had just 26 touches in the game and completed almost half of his passes. He lost the ball on an incredible 12 occasions, and won just two of his five ground duels.
