Mike Penders will officially join Chelsea this summer from Belgian side Genk and the teenager has spoken about his plans for the end of the season.
Chelsea agreed a deal to sign the 19-year-old keeper last summer from the Belgian outfit for €20m, and the Blues are said to have high hopes for the teenager.
Despite his age, Chelsea see Penders as someone with huge potential and he’s set to be assessed this summer before a final decision is taken on next season.
Despite signing a number of goalkeepers over the past few windows the Blues have struggled for consistency between the sticks.
Robert Sanchez is the current number one, but it’s believed one of the Spaniard or Djordje Petrovic will be sold this summer.
Matt Law has confirmed Penders won’t be sold this summer, and there’s a possibility he could be in the squad for the Club World Cup this summer.

Penders has now spoken on his post season plans and revealed all options are still on the table, with his primary focus on finishing the season strongly.
“All options are still open,” he told Het Belang van Limburg.
“First, the full focus will be on the play-offs, then we will sit around the table.”
Penders has established himself as the Genk number one this season and has made 26 appearances in all competitions, keeping nine clean sheets in the process.

Penders had expressed his shock over his move to Chelsea, and he’s been compared to former Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois.
Whilst next season may well be to soon for Penders to be number one, a loan move seems the most likely option, with a move to Strasbourg to replace Petrovic surely the ideal one to continue his development and test himself in a tougher league.
