Although it’s the day Bayern will celebrate their 33rd championship win, Thomas Müller is the talk of the town as he’s making his last appearance at Allianz Arena. Vincent Kompany gave the 35-year-old a starting berth as he played his 750th game for the club.

There were also lots of changes from the XI that started the dramatic 3-3 draw in Leipzig. Manuel Neuer was between the sticks as he recovered from a calf problem, while Harry Kane returns from suspension.

Those two players had instant impacts on either end of the pitch. Neuer made some good saves to keep European hopefuls Gladbach at bay, while Bayern’s best opportunities involved Kane.

That includes the England captain’s 25th league goal of the season in the 32nd minute. In particular, Bayern’s Meisterschale will have a big meaning for the 31-year-old striker, and he also succeeded at scoring on the day that he’ll receive a trophy for the very first time.

Michael Olise initially thought he was the one who scored the goal, but it instead went down as the 14th assist for the Frenchman in his debut Bundesliga season. Gladbach came back as the strongest side after the break, but they couldn’t create clear-cut opportunities.

Moments after the Allianz Arena crowd showed their discontent regarding recent kit designs, they nearly got what they hoped for when Müller had a good chance inside the box. However, his shot was deflected over after valiant defending from the guests.

Müller continued to push for a special goal, but he was unable to beat Jonas Omlin before leaving the field in the 85th minute. As expected, the crowd celebrated their legend when he was subbed off for one last time at Allianz Arena.

There was also a guard of honor by Bayern players and staff as he reached the touchline. In injury-time, Olise registered his 25th direct goal involvement of the season with a first-time finish. After this defeat, Gladbach will all but confirm to miss out in Europe next season.
