Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has reaffirmed his stance that Vinicius Jr. did not deserve to be sent off during the match against Valencia. Ancelotti remains confident that the Brazilian forward should not face further punishment for the incident.
At the same time, he expressed his empathy for Vinicius, who has been subjected to ongoing challenges, including offensive remarks from fans during games.
Ancelotti acknowledged that Vinicius is going through a tough period, and although he cannot fully understand the emotional weight of the situation, he recognises the difficulty of enduring such hostility.
“It’s difficult. I’m not in his shoes, but it’s hard to bear everything that has happened and what is happening; the insults… It’s not easy,” said the manager as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Despite these challenges, the manager highlighted that Vinicius is actively working to handle the circumstances better. The young star has shown regret for the red card he received and is determined to move forward with a positive mindset.
“He’s trying to improve and to bear it. He’s sad about the red card, he apologized, but we have to look forward,” he added.

In terms of Vinicius’s behaviour on the pitch, Ancelotti pointed out that the player has made significant progress in recent times.
“I haven’t seen what he has done. I see what happens in the stadiums. His attitude has improved a lot in recent times.”
While there is always room for further improvement, the manager praised his overall development. According to Ancelotti, Vinicius has grown to the extent that he is currently considered one of the best players in the world.
“He can improve again, yes, but nobody is perfect. He is working hard and has improved so much that he is the best player in the world.”
Regarding the controversial red card against goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski, Ancelotti reiterated his belief that the decision was too harsh.
He maintained that Vinicius’s action warranted a yellow card at most, not a red. Real Madrid are hoping that this perspective will be taken into account and that no additional suspension will be imposed.
“We are still convinced that it was not a red card, it was a yellow card. I am still with this and we hope that he doesn’t get any matches,” he mentioned.
