Real Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon admitted that there is a "possibility" the Spanish side will make Antony's loan move from Manchester United permanent after the Brazilian's fast start to life in Seville.

Antony was not afforded a single Premier League start by any of Erik ten Hag, Ruud van Nistelrooy or United's current head coach Ruben Amorim this season. As it became abundantly apparent that his minimal game time would not swell over the second half of the campaign, the divisive forward secured a loan move to Betis in January.

The former Ajax winger started his first two matches for the mid-table La Liga outfit and was voted the MVP in each game even though Betis failed to defeat Athletic Club (2-2) or Celta Vigo (2-3). During his entire Premier League career, Antony was voted Player of the Match just once.

Betis' deal for Antony was a straight loan with no option or obligation to buy. When it was put to Betis chief Alarcon whether there was a possibility of permanently recruiting the 24-year-old this summer, he told Radio Sevilla's Libre y Directo programme: "I think so.

"The other day the CEO of United called me, we sent them all the plays and details of the player from the whole week so that they can see that we are looking after their asset. There is very good chemistry with Manchester [United] and with the player. It is a possibility that he will continue next season, why not?"

Antony was non-committal when recently quizzed on his future at Betis, but has stressed the benefit of simply being afforded regular opportunities to play.

"Individually, it's been a very important start for me," the Brazilian explained. "All I wanted was to play, to be able to be on the pitch. These have been two games in which I've felt very good, I've scored my first goal. We have to keep working so that the victories come. That's what I want most."
