Barcelona President Joan Laporta insists the club wants to keep Ronald Araujo, who is in talks with club directors following interest from Juventus.

Barcelona hope to persuade Araujo to stay at the club after the Uruguay international received an offer from Serie A club Juventus.

The latest reports in Italy suggest that Araujo wants to move to Turin this month, but Laporta wants him to stay.

“We want our players to be helpful and to stay with us. He has a contract, and we want him to stay,” Laporta said on Tuesday, as quoted by Marca.

“He is talking to club directors. We appreciate him personally and professionally. We have a direct and pleasant relationship with him. There is room for everyone to reach a satisfying decision.”

Araujo has recently returned to action after sustaining a hamstring injury that required surgery last summer.

His contract runs out in 2026, but talks between Barcelona and his entourage have stalled.

Juventus are looking for a new centre-back to replace the injured Gleison Bremer, who is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Sky Sport Italia has reported that Araujo has become the Bianconeri’s main target after Benfica refused to sell Antonio Silva this month.
