Liverpool maintained their seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table after beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds went 2-0 up at the break with goals coming from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian scoring from the spot.
Liverpool had a goal disallowed in the second half, but apart from that, they hardly created any chances. Wolves applied pressure and pulled one back in the second half through Matheus Cunha.
In the end, the Reds did just enough to seal all three points. Arne Slot said that it was a “relief” in the end, especially after what happened against Everton in midweek.
Slot took Ibrahima Konate off in the second half, and brought Jarell Quansah, who was brilliant alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Konate was on a yellow card already, and Slot didn’t want to take any chances. The Liverpool manager praised Quansah, saying he has been really impressive in training.
The 22-year-old has not played enough games this season under Slot, but the Reds boss thinks that the defender is gradually getting back to his best.
Slot said after the game: “He’s played a few games recently and did really well – and I see in training sessions that he is back to being the same Jarell as in pre-season.
“I think he had a bit of a hard time after being taken off at Ipswich and then the first two or three games after that when he came in, he was also in a bit of a struggle.
“He is just showing now what he has shown in the last two or three months on the training pitch, but also when he comes in, that he’s back to his old level.”
Quansah made a big impact under Jurgen Klopp last season, but he has been sporadically used by Slot so far.
The highly talented defender has made only two Premier League starts this season, and a further four appearances have come from the bench.
He has also started in two Champions League games this season, and featured regularly in cup games.
Quansah looked rock solid at the back against Wolves, and this will please the Reds fans.
With Joe Gomez out injured, Liverpool can rely heavily on Quansah in the second half of the season, and it will allow Slot to rotate his defenders in a better way.
