Kai Havertz Nearing Arsenal Return as Arteta Delivers Injury Update

Havertz Eyes Late-Season Comeback

Mikel Arteta has offered a timely boost to Arsenal’s top-four ambitions, revealing that Kai Havertz could return to action before the curtain falls on the Premier League campaign. The Germany international has not featured since early February after undergoing hamstring surgery, with initial fears his season was over.

At the time, Arsenal confirmed Havertz’s recovery was “expected to extend into pre-season preparations for next season.” But as momentum gathers in the final stretch, so too has the pace of Havertz’s rehabilitation.

“I think so, I think if everything goes the way it’s going at the moment and the way it’s planned, I think he will have a chance to play a few games in the season,” said Arteta ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Bournemouth.

Defensive Depth Tested

Arteta’s optimism is tempered by the continued absence of Riccardo Calafiori, whose knee injury—sustained while on duty with Italy in March—has ruled him out at a critical time. With Gabriel already sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring issue, Arsenal’s defensive resources are stretched.

“He is out, still out,” Arteta confirmed, underlining the lack of options available at the back.

Jorginho Close to Return

There is brighter news in midfield, however, with Jorginho nearing a return following a rib injury suffered in the draw with Brentford last month. While Saturday’s match comes too soon, the Italian playmaker may be available for the final run-in.

“He’s got a bit more complicated than expected. Thankfully, he’s fine, he’s feeling good, he’s recovering well, but it was a bit more than what we wanted,” said Arteta.

“I think so [that he will be back before the end of the season], if everything goes okay in the next week or so.”

With Havertz’s return on the horizon, Arsenal could be handed a crucial lift just in time to reinforce their push for a strong finish.
