Arsenal are considering an approach to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich as the club seek a replacement for Bukayo Saka.
Saka is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing hamstring surgery. With Raheem Sterling also out injured, Arsenal are assessing their options ahead of the January transfer window.
Coman is a player of interest to the North Londoners, according to the Evening Standard. The France international is free to leave Bayern Munich in the upcoming window, having started just six times in the Bundesliga so far this season.
Michael Olise’s arrival from Crystal Palace has reduced Coman’s minutes and the 28-year-old could be subject of an approach from the Premier League.
Coman has won 11 league titles during a decorated career that has included spells at PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich. He formed part of the Bayern side that won a treble in 2019/20 and scored the decisive goal in the Champions League final win over former club PSG.
Comfortable on either flank, he would help combat the loss of Saka’s directness and creativity. Coman has averaged a goal or assist every 124 minutes in the Bundesliga this season despite his lack of football.
Arsenal could make an approach to take Coman on loan for the remainder of the campaign with the view to a permanent transfer. Another wide option is a priority for Mikel Arteta, with Arsenal having been interested in signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao in the summer.
However, Saudi sides could yet rival Arsenal’s interest. In the final stages of the summer transfer window, Al-Hilal made a concrete approach to sign Coman but a deal was unable to be agreed.
