Arsenal Injury Update: Confirmed Latest on Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard and More

As Arsenal head into the final two Premier League matchdays, Mikel Arteta finds himself battling a fresh opponent: the club’s swelling injury list. With a paper-thin squad and key figures absent, questions loom over whether the Gunners can maintain their title push.
Injuries have defined much of this campaign. From long-term absentees to fresh concerns, Arsenal are increasingly walking a tightrope. And with Declan Rice and Kai Havertz among those nursing problems, Arteta’s margin for error continues to shrink.
Declan Rice has arguably been Arsenal’s heartbeat this season. His absence in the high-stakes draw at Liverpool was felt acutely. The England international didn’t travel due to what Arteta later confirmed as a hip issue.
“I think he is struggling, it does not look good,” Arteta admitted post-match — a worrying update for fans hoping to see Rice anchor the midfield against Newcastle.
With no concrete return date, Rice’s availability for the final two matches remains in serious doubt. Arsenal’s hopes of maintaining balance and control, especially against physical opponents, hinge on the presence of the £105 million man.
Kai Havertz, sidelined since early February with a hamstring injury, is making unexpected progress. Initially ruled out for the season, the German international is now pushing for a return in the final game against Southampton.
“I think if everything goes the way it’s going at the moment and the way it’s planned, I think he will have a chance to play a few games here in the season,” said Arteta earlier this month.

With just two fixtures left, Havertz’s availability could add a crucial dimension to Arsenal’s attack. His ability to drift between lines and create space has been sorely missed — particularly with Leandro Trossard also suffering a setback.
Jurrien Timber was benched for the Liverpool clash after playing midweek against PSG, and Arteta admitted the defender “was not fit to play.” Yet, his inclusion in the travelling squad suggests the knock isn’t severe. A potential return against Newcastle appears on the cards.
Leandro Trossard, meanwhile, started against Liverpool but was forced off holding his hamstring — another headache for Arteta. No update followed post-match, leaving uncertainty over his condition.

Then there’s Jorginho. Absent from the last four league games due to a suspected lung issue, the Italian may have already played his final game in red and white, with a summer exit seemingly on the cards.
The injury ledger extends deeper. Gabriel Magalhaes has been ruled out for the rest of the season following hamstring surgery. Arsenal confirmed the Brazilian will aim to be fit for pre-season.
Takehiro Tomiyasu’s nightmare continues. After just one appearance all year, the defender underwent knee surgery in February. He shared on Instagram: “It has been the toughest period in my career for sure… but I won’t give up.”
Gabriel Jesus rounds out the list, having suffered an ACL tear in January’s FA Cup clash with Manchester United. While his return is pencilled in for autumn, the road to recovery remains long.
Arsenal’s season is on a knife-edge. Injuries to Declan Rice and Kai Havertz are especially disruptive, affecting both the engine room and forward lines. Arteta is left patching together a lineup for decisive matches against Newcastle and Southampton — games that could define the club’s campaign.
If Arsenal are to lift silverware, they’ll have to do so with grit, tactical ingenuity, and perhaps a dose of good fortune on the injury front.
