Arsenal suffered heartbreak as their Champions League run came to an end with defeat in the semi-finals to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners always faced an uphill task coming into the second leg after losing 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium last week and they could not mount a comeback.

PSG ran out 2-1 winners on the night, with Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi scoring before Bukayo Saka pulled one back.

Like in the first leg, both sides will believe they could have scored more as Arsenal missed chances and Vitinha had a penalty saved by David Raya,

Simon Collings was at the Parc des Princes to see Arsenal in action...

David Raya 7

Could not get near Hakimi or Ruiz’s strikes, but produced a great save to keep out Vitinha’s penalty. Delivered when it mattered.

Jurrien Timber 7

Won his race to be fit to start. Largely dealt well with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who troubled him a lot in the first leg.

William Saliba 7

Almost gifted PSG a goal with a loose pass in the first half, but otherwise did well. Unfortunate that Ruiz’s strike deflected off him.

Jakub Kiwior 6

Struggled when pulled out of the back four and made to defend one on one against the likes of Desire Doue. His long diagonal balls caused PSG issues.

Myles Lewis-Skelly 5

The teenager has been a shining light this season, but he struggled tonight. Caught in possession a fair few times, especially in the first half. Had a penalty harshly given against him for handball.

Martin Odegaard 6

Drew a stunning save from Gianluigi Donnarumma inside the opening 10 minutes with a great strike from the edge of the box. Guilty of taking too many touches at times.

Thomas Partey 6

Back in the team and was having a good game until he was too slow on the ball, with Hakimi stealing in to score PSG’s second. Long throws proved a valuable weapon.

Declan Rice 7

So close to giving Arsenal the lead inside a matter of minutes, but his header went just wide. Caused problems when driving with the ball from midfield.

Bukayo Saka 8 | Star player

Gave Nuno Mendes so many problems and put in some great crosses - there was just no one on the end of them. Gave Arsenal hope with a late goal, before missing a golden chance. Still Arsenal’s best player.

Mikel Merino 5

The Spaniard has performed well as an emergency striker since January, but he was largely anonymous this evening.

Gabriel Martinelli 6

Went close to scoring early on and had the better of Hakimi in the opening stages. Faded a little and was taken off with just over 20 minutes to go.

Substitutions

Riccardo Calafiori (Lewis-Skelly 68’) 7

Came on and looked to get forward whenever he could. Created a great chance for Saka to make it 2-2, but he blazed over.

Leandro Trossard (Martinelli 68’) 7

Looked lively off the bench and helped create Saka’s goal with a cross from the left flank.

Ben White (Timber 83’) N/A

Subs not used: Neto, Setford, Tierney, Zinchenko, Henry-Francis, Jorginho, Nwaneri, Sterling, Butler-Oyedeji
