AS Monaco achieved one of their objectives for the season, beating Aston Villa (1-0) and securing their place in the top 24 of the UEFA Champions League ‘League Phase’. It means that the Principality club are now assured of their place in the next round, however, currently 10th with 13 points, and level on points with fifth-placed Arsenal, there may be an outside chance of securing a top-eight finish at the San Siro next Wednesday.
Adi Hütter said that Monaco “achieved one of their season’s objectives” by securing their progression in the Champions League. However, a top-eight finish could be on the cards. “At the San Siro against Inter, they will be a big opponent. They are in fantastic shape. We’ll go there with the best performance to see if we can win,” said the Monaco manager in a post-match interview, attended by Get French Football News.
Scorer of the winner against Aston Villa, Wilfried Singo added, “We are going to go to Milan next week with a lot of ambition and to win,” said the Ivorian, awarded man-of-the-match for his result-defining performance at the Stade Louis II.
