The future of Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United, continues to be the subject of headlines with both clubs reportedly keen to get rid of the struggling star.

The Red Devils did well to move on the Englishman, considering his attitude issues off the pitch and application on it, sending him to the Blues with Chelsea obligated to buy him for £25 million should they finish above 14th.

It still represents a major loss for the Old Trafford side considering they paid €85 million to secure his signature back in 2021.

Thankfully, Chelsea are on course to comfortably finish in the top half but as per recent reports, the Stamford Bridge outfit are having cold feet given the 25-year-old’s declining form.

He has been in and out of Enzo Maresca’s team all season and has managed a meagre two goals in 28 appearances across all competitions. In fact, his form has dipped so significantly since December that the winger has no goals and only one assist in his last 14 games.

Chelsea don’t want Sancho

However, the London team will have to pay £5 million to get rid of the obligation, something they do not want to pay United. Instead, they will buy the England international only to sell him once the summer window opens.

The versatile attacker has expressed an interest in returning to former club Borussia Dortmund but as relayed by The Peoples Person, the German side are in no position to pay a substantial transfer fee along with his huge wages.

Bundesliga defending champions Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with a move for the former Manchester City academy graduate with Teamtalk now relaying two Italian clubs have also joined the race.

Lazio and Roma, both struggling to try and qualify for the Champions League next season, are said to be interested in Sancho. But the report does not make clear whether they can afford him.

“Jadon Sancho is under the microscope at Chelsea as they ponder whether to pay a fee to opt out of signing the Manchester United loanee permanently, while four other clubs are considering moves for him this summer.

Maresca remains unconvinced by the England international, evidenced by the fact that he has started just 16 Premier League games this term.

Roma, Lazio join the race

Sources state that Sancho is still appreciated by Bundesliga clubs and former side Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are keeping tabs on his situation.

“However, the German duo would face competition from Serie A sides should Sancho become available, with Lazio and Roma both keen, too.”

The English talent will have to play out of his skin from now until the end of the season to justify Chelsea keeping him for the long-term.

Or else, he might be forced to try a new adventure outside his home country because the 20-time English league champions are certainly not counting on him given he has burned all bridges with his parent club.
