A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid leads all players across Europe’s top leagues when it comes to goals as a substitute this season.

The player in question? Alexander Sørloth.

Frontman Sørloth for his part is fresh off finding the net once more on Saturday.

With Atlético trailing by a goal to nil in a home meeting with Celta Vigo, the summer arrival in Spain’s capital was introduced to the fray by boss Diego Simeone.

And Sørloth went on to net a decisive equaliser, driving home a fine finish from the edge of the penalty area just shy of 10 minutes from time.

And such exploits, as alluded to above, have since given rise to a head-turning statistic on the part of the Norwegian.

As revealed by statisticians Opta:

‘With six goals, Alexander Sørloth is the player with the most goals as a substitute this season in Europe’s top five leagues.’
