Over in Turkey, it has now been reported that Newcastle United have signed Baran Yildiz.
There had been a number of reports in the Turkish media saying that Newcastle United and Genclerbirligi were in talks regarding the 18 year old forward.
Now Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, a leading Turkish journalist, says that the deal is now complete. He has a reputation for breaking a lot of transfer stories in Turkey.
The ‘exclusive‘ states that his information is the two clubs have reached agreement on the transfer fee and that Baran Yildiz has signed a four and a half year contract, which will take him up to the end of June 2029.
The teenager is yet to make his first team debut for second tier Genclerbirligi and is playing regularly in the younger age groups.
Obviously he will be ‘one for the future’, if indeed this transfer story has substance.
Eddie Howe has stated today that we shouldn’t expect any first team signings this window, unless something significantly changes.
However, it appears obvious that the recruitment team are continuing to sign numerous younger players as they look to bring in the stars of the future, as rival clubs have done for so many years.

The 18 year old Antonio Cordero is set to be out of contract at Malaga, come the end of June 2025, so Newcastle United able to have talks now and agree a pre-contract at this point, with the player then moving to St James’ Park this summer. Obviously, that depending on the player and Newcastle United reaching agreement.
Having made his debut for Malaga at the age of just 16, the teenage winger has now become a regular for the Spanish club in the second tier this season.
Already 22 league appearances this campaign, including 13 as a starter.
Antonio Cordero is part of the Spain Under 19s set-up currently and the winger has already scored four league goals this season for Malaga and got six assists.
