Napoli sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during the winter transfer window, but they may have hurt their position by not moving him last summer.

Paris Saint-Germain showed strong interest in Kvaratskhelia ahead of the season, but Napoli held firm, believing they could convince the Georgian forward to sign an extension.

That didn’t happen, and in January, the Serie A club sold him to the Ligue 1 side for €70 million. While they received a solid fee for a player unwilling to renew his contract, they now face a higher price tag and competition for his ideal replacement.

Recently, Serxhio Mezi, an intermediary for LOSC Lille’s Edon Zhegrova, told Telecapri that Napoli was set to sign Zhegrova, but the deal fell through because they didn’t sell Kvaratskhelia to PSG.

If the Serie A side want to land the Lille standout to replace PSG’s star, they face an enormous rival as SPORT reports that Barcelona are considering a bid for Zhegrova, who will be available for sale this summer with a starting price of €30 million.

Napoli have the funds from the Kvaratskhelia transfer, so it’ll be interesting to see if they decide to get into a bidding war.
