Barcelona were dealt a massive blow yesterday when RFEF issued a circular, nullifying the validity of Vitor Roque’s potential move to Palmeiras.

The Barcelona forward, currently on loan at Real Betis, was in talks with Palmeiras to join the club this month, before the Brazilian transfer window expires on February 28.

All three clubs even appeared to be in agreement over the move before RFEF poured water over Roque’s hopes by nullifying his move, citing legal breaches.

The RFEF circular was followed by Palmeiras reportedly breaking off all negotiations with Barcelona and Real Betis surrounding the transfer of Roque this month.

However, it appears Barcelona have not lost hope yet and are currently looking for legal loopholes to get the transfer over the line.

According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona have contacted FIFA and UEFA, in what can be considered the club’s latest effort to still salvage the Roque deal.

It appears the Catalans have contacted these two organisations to know about their opinion on the Roque deal and whether or not it can be validated.

Should Barça receive a positive response, the process could be closed before the end of February. The club, for their part, are keeping their eyes open for any kind of responses.

There is another scenario in which Barcelona can close out the deal but that would simply require the club trusting Palmeiras to honor their agreement in the summer.

FIFA had earlier announced that there will be a special transfer window conducted during June 1-10 for clubs involved in the FIFA Club World Cup. Barcelona can utilise that to close out the deal for the Brazilian forward.
