Barcelona forward reacts to lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia – “Numbers are very high” | OneFootball

There has been much discussion surrounding the future of Raphinha in recent days.

Even with the forward reportedly being in talks with Barcelona over a new contract, speculation over his long-term future at the club continues.

To make matters worse, Raphinha has been recently courted by Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal reportedly willing to make a multi-million euro offer to the Brazilian forward.

Raphinha reacts to Saudi Arabia’s offer

In a recent interaction with TNT Sports, Raphinha talked about the recent offer from Saudi Arabia, notably admitting that it did open his eyes.

“Yesterday someone sent me news of the offer from Saudi Arabia, and honestly, I was very surprised because the numbers are very, very high. Honestly, if I had received this offer last year, I think I would have gone,” he said.

Raphinha explained his statement, pointing out how he was suffering from a psychological breakdown after a disastrous season at Barcelona.

“Because at that time, I was in a bit of a psychological breakdown, and this offer would solve everything in my life, my wife’s life, and my family’s life. It was an amount of money that would change our lives completely,” he said.

It must be noted that Raphinha was indeed linking with a move away from Catalonia last summer, as Barça wanted to bring in more revenue in order to boost their balance sheet.

But the move didn’t materialise as the Catalans didn’t find any club willing to meet their price tag, while the player himself was hesitant about leaving.

Nevertheless, Raphinha admitted that the magnitude of the Saudi Arabia offer was just astounding, stating, “Anyone who says he won’t go is lying, because it’s impossible to see numbers of this magnitude and not think that this offer will change your life, and that you might go.“

But then the forward revealed that he feels he still has a lot to offer to Barcelona and European football.

“But I was thinking that I had a lot to offer here in Europe, I still had a lot to offer this club, and I still had a great opportunity to continue representing the national team,” he said.

“This is what made me close my ears a little to money, and open my mind more to my dreams,” he concluded.
