Bayern Munich have been linked with several defenders in the past few months. Even though defense is not top priority, Bayern can make moves if there are departures. They certainly have an eye set on one of the promising young defenders, who is playing in the Premier League.

According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern Munich representatives, including Director of Sports Max Eberl, have held concrete discussions with Bournemouth star center-back Dean Huijsen's management.

The board is well informed about his demands and further details. Huijsen is among the club's top candidates to be the new centerpiece in the defense and the new "leader" at the back. Due to the release clause in his contract, the Spaniard will be available for a fairly reasonable price of €58 million.

Huijsen delivering impressive performances in Premier League

Dean Huijsen is having an amazing season with The Cherries. He became an irreplaceable piece in Andoni Iraola's system after stepping up to the starting lineup due to Marcos Senesi's injury. His form has earned him a spot in a star-studded Spain National Team. Huijsen is a solid center-back who is dominant in the air thanks to his 6'5 frame.

The 20-year-old has two goals in the Premier League so far, both headers. With his lanky build, he surprisingly impresses with his comfort on the ball and his range of passes and accuracy. His playing style also shows a rare maturity for his age, especially at one of the most mentally demanding positions in the sport.

Despite being a right-footed center-back, the former Juventus and AS Roma player is well capable of playing on the left side of the pairing. He can slot perfectly into the left center-back position next to Dayot Upamecano.

However, Bayern are facing a blockade in this deal. The transfer can only be pushed forward if Kim Min-jae is sold in the summer. There has also been a buzz among top clubs about the availability of the South Korean defender. Bayern Munich is open to listening to offers for the former Napoli center-back.

Apart from Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Real Madrid are all closely monitoring Huijsen's situation as a top transfer target. Compared to Bayern, these teams are in a more concrete position to make an offer for the defender this summer. It is reported that Huijsen is more open to a move within the Premier League. But he can also well imagine a move to Bayern.

The race for Dean Huijsen's signature is pretty much wide open. Bayern is still a formidable contender to come out as the winner.
