Beerschot go into the relegation play-offs all but officially relegated. The side, led by former Liverpool favourite Dirk Kuyt, will begin the mini group on 18 points, a huge 13 points behind their opponents Sint Truiden. If Beerschot are to have any hope of avoiding the drop, they will have to win all six of their games during the play-offs to stand even an outside chance of finishing second and fighting the relegation play-off against the winners of the Challenger Pro League play-offs.
For Sint Truiden, a victory over Beerschot on Saturday would be a great start and a chance to put some real pressure on both Kortrijk and Cercle Brugge. It would increase the gap to the former to eight points, while also leapfrogging Cercle by two points. Failure to win this game would have the opposite effect, opening the door for Kortrijk to steal back some points on them against Cercle. The side will be hoping that Adriano Bertaccini can continue his march towards a 20 goal season. The forward currently has 16, with four goals in his last three games. One of these came during a 2-0 win against Beerschot on the 7th of March.
Sint Truiden have not lost or conceded a single goal against Beerschot this season. As well as the 2-0 win a few weekends ago, they also beat Beerschot away from home 3-0 back in September.
