Brentford vs Liverpool: Preview, predictions and lineups

Liverpool are seeking their first Premier League victory of 2025 when they visit Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds have stumbled to draws with Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in their last two Premier League matches, with their lead at the summit sliced to just four points by Arsenal - albeit the Reds have a game in hand on their London foes. Another slip-up at the Gtech Community Stadium would put Arne Slot's side under huge pressure from their title rivals.

Brentford had made their home ground fortress at the beginning of the season but their west London invincibility has been shattered in recent weeks. They are now without victory in four home games, including a shock FA Cup third round exit to Plymouth Argyle. They did secure a dramatic late comeback against Manchester City last time out, however.

Here is 90min's guide to Brentford vs Liverpool.

Brentford have struggled with injuries this season and they remain without some influential players. Starting centre-back Ethan Pinnock is sidelined with a hamstring issue, joining fellow defenders Aaron Hickey and Kristoffer Ajer in the treatment room. Sepp van den Berg will line up in the heart of defence against his former employers.

Joshua Dasilva and Gustavo Nunes are long-term absentees, while summer recruit Igor Thiago is suffering with an infection following a knee injury. The expensive Brazilian has featured in just four Premier League games this term.

Brentford predicted lineup vs Liverpool (4-3-3): Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Van den Berg, Henry; Janelt, Norgaard, Jensen; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade.

Liverpool have been comparatively fortunate with injuries during Slot's debut season and the Dutch coach is only missing versatile defender Joe Gomez for Saturday's trip to the capital. He's likely to return in February from his hamstring issue.

Diogo Jota's immediate impact from the bench midweek would theoretically have earned him a start on Saturday, but the potent forward is an injury doubt. Darwin Nunez, however, has served his one-game suspension. Dominik Szoboszlai made his Premier League comeback from a combination of suspension and illness at the City Ground on Tuesday.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Brentford (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.

It could be chaos at the Gtech on Saturday. Liverpool are the division's top scorers but have struggled for clean sheets in recent weeks, while Brentford have scored more home goals than any team in the Premier League but have endured similar defensive struggles. The Bees have conceded 37 times in their 21 matches this term.

Liverpool's wobble could come to an end in the capital but it's unlikely to be convincing against a Brentford side who are rarely beaten without a fight. They will be hoping to land a few punches on the Reds, who will have to be vigilant and persistent on Saturday afternoon.
