Bayern Munich extended their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to 12 games with a late equaliser against Borussia Dortmund. The Bavarian club had to dig deep on Saturday to get a point at Signal Iduna Park. Considering the home form of Borussia Dortmund over the last 12 games, Bayern and Vincent Kompany will be content with a point.
Courtesy of getting a goal in the first quarter of the game, Dortmund were able to sit deep and keep Bayern at bay for lengthy spells. The visitors dominated possession but couldn’t create clear-cut chances to mount the pressure on Dortmund.
The equalizer eventually came through Musiala in the 85th minute. Kompany and the Bavarian faithful will be pleased with how the team showed character to get a crucial point. They have come a long way from last season since Bayern would have collapsed in such a situation during the previous campaign.
Courtesy of a draw at Signal Iduna Park, Bayern currently have a lead of seven points at the top of the points table. Eintracht Frankfurt can trim Die Roten’s lead to four points by winning their game against Heidenheim on Sunday.
Despite dropping two points, Bayern will not be overly disappointed with the result. Let us look at major takeaways from the intensely fought Der Klassiker on Saturday.
