Can Chelsea win the WSL tonight?

Undefeated Chelsea could be crowned WSL champions once again should both results go their way this evening.

With Champions League games being played at the weekend, two domestic fixtures are set to be played later today instead.

Arsenal, who romped past Lyon to book a Champions League final spot at Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, will travel to face Aston Villa in the 18:00 kick-off.

Then at 20:15, Manchester United host Chelsea, who were humbled by Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final that ended 8-2 on aggregate in the Catalan side's favour.

Despite that disappointment, Sonia Bompastor's team could be celebrating a sixth consecutive WSL title this evening.

Should Arsenal drop points away to Aston Villa and Chelsea defeat Manchester United then the title will be going to the Blues once again.

While Villa have had a poor season by their standards, they are on a run of two wins in a row (away to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur) and will be hoping to catch Arsenal out should they still be celebrating their Champions League achievement.

Chelsea meanwhile will be looking to bounce back, albeit in a tough away fixture at Leigh Sports Village.

Marc Skinner's side are chasing Champions League football and know that they can't afford to make many mistakes in their difficult final run-in.

Indeed, it should be fascinating to see if Chelsea's attack, which has scored 53 goals this season (only behind Arsenal), can break down the league's best defence. The Red Devils have shipped just nine goals all season, a feat that has seen goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce rewarded with a new contract.

With six points between second-place Arsenal and leaders Chelsea and just three games remaining for both sides, it's hard to see the Gunners getting back into the race. Chelsea's title could arrive later today but if not then it will stay on ice until the weekend at least.
