Carlo Ancelotti admits leading Real Madrid star could be rested vs Girona | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that he could afford a rest to Federico Valverde in the club’s next outing.

Real are of course primed to return to action on Sunday evening, when they welcome Girona to the Spanish capital for a La Liga clash.

Los Blancos will head into the matchup desperate for a return to winning ways on the domestic front, after being ousted from their spot atop the table by arch rivals Barcelona earlier this week.

Efforts towards as much, however, could well come without the contributions of a star member of the Spanish champions’ squad.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti was drawn on the possibility of Federico Valverde sitting out against Girona.

Valverde has been dealing with some niggling fitness problems over recent days, with the Uruguayan therefore in line for a potential rest on Sunday:

“Fede?“ Ancelotti began. “We will see, maybe he will rest tomorrow but he felt very good.”
