Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has explained that he and his teammates have been left thoroughly impressed by Ruben Amorim.

Amorim was appointed United head coach on November 1, following the sacking of Erik ten Hag. Amorim has already overseen two matches – last weekend’s draw with Ipswich Town and Thursday’s victory over Bodo/Glimt.

Against Bodo/Glimt in particular, there were very clear and positive signs of Amorim’s football philosophy and the style of football he wants to implement at Old Trafford.

In both matches, Amorim deployed his preferred 3-4-3 formation.

Casemiro spoke to club media and revealed that the players are elated by Amorim’s appointment and the kind of impact he could have. He noted that the dressing room is “excited.”

“He’s a young manager, he’s 39 and some players are still playing at that age, so he’s young. I’m not the only one who’s excited, all the players are.”

“Every time someone arrives, the dynamic changes. We haven’t worked with him much yet, but what we’ve seen from him is the intensity, the joy and the enjoyment of the ball and football.”

“Tactics have always been an aspect of the game that I like a lot. With him [Amorim], you can see that there is a lot of tactics.” Casemiro continued, “I think that is part of the philosophy of the Portuguese coaches, who talk a lot about tactics, heart and fun on the pitch.”

Casemiro’s appearance against Ipswich was his 100th for United since he joined from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.

The Brazilian reflected on his time so far at United and took the opportunity to express his gratitude to supporters, who he claimed have been nothing short of superb towards him and his family.

“Well, I was actually here for the Liverpool game. I didn’t play, it was when I was presented at the stadium, so this moment was very special.”

“Also, when I was 15 I played a tournament here, so whenever I look at it or enter the field of play it is always special. You can always feel the warmth from the fans and how they support us – this is something that has surprised me. I think it speaks for itself; it is a beautiful stadium and the fans make it even more beautiful still.”

“Since the first minute, I have felt at home. Since the first day, stepping into Manchester Airport, I felt at home, I felt so good. So I just want to thank everyone for the love and support, and I want to repay this on the pitch. “Everyone wants to win, but my thoughts when I step onto the field of play is to do my best, not just for me or my family, not just for the club, but for the fans. You always have to think of this.”

“From day one, the love and support from the fans has been unique and special, it surprised me a lot. I value and enjoy every moment, as I feel so much affection for them.”

Casemiro has won two trophies at United – the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. However, a few weeks ago, Tyrell Malacia divulged that the former Real Madrid man gave him his FA Cup medal. Malacia missed the entirety of last season with a serious injury that required at least two surgeries.

Casemiro confirmed this, as he explained why he handed his FA Cup medal to Malacia.

“I didn’t know Malacia had talked about it, but it’s true, I gave him my medal. e hadn’t played a single game that season, and he didn’t want to climb the steps. There was no medal for him, so I gave him mine. He’s part of the team and we’re counting on him.”

“Even though he hasn’t played this season, we love him, we need him and he also needs love.”

Casemiro will have the chance to make it 102 appearances for the Red Devils on Sunday when they host Sean Dyche’s Everton.
