Daizen Maeda's sparkling form this season has seen him score 30 goals despite playing the major of the campaign as a winger. Since the departure of Kyogo in late January, he has often featured in a more central role though and shined. As a result, the Japanese international is being viewed as a long-term option at striker for Celtic, with Adam Idah as his cover option.

At the same time, one cannot ignore the fact that Celtic never really replaced Kyogo. Also, they need a third option at striker, with Johnny Kenny struggling for game time and expected to leave in the summer, whether on loan or permanently.

Mathias Kvistgaarden continues to be linked with the club. But now, a new name has emerged in the rumour mill. One who plays for the Croatia national team.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Franjo Ivanovic continues to attract the attention of Euro scouts and would fit Celtic’s target profile. The Hoops could still sign a striker this summer, despite Maeda’s prolific form. But Brighton & Hove Albion are understood to be the Croatian international's most likely destination.

Ivanovic has been in good form since joining Union SG last summer. According to stats from Transfermarkt, in 37 appearances for the club, he has scored 17 goals and provided 6 assists.

That has seen Ivanovic find his way into the Croatian national team picture. He has made a couple of appearances for them recently.

One has to wonder, would he be open to a move to Celtic at this point in his career, if there is no guarantee that he would be the starting striker for the Hoops? He is in the Croatian national team a year before the World Cup. Thus, staying on with Union SG might be the more sensible step for him.
