Celtic want to bring Kieran Tierney on loan in January window | OneFootball

Celtic are actively looking to make a few signings towards the end of the January transfer window as Brendan Rodgers wants to add more quality to the side.

The Bhoys have already signed Jota from Rennes, just 18 months after leaving the Scottish champions for £25 million.

He has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal at Celtic Park. The Hoops are now looking to bring back Tierney in the January window.

Celtic have already agreed a pre-contract deal with Arsenal to sign 27-year-old defender in the summer, but they are looking to bring him now on loan for the rest of the season.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Celtic are “pushing” to sign him on loan and are waiting on a decision from Arsenal to see if he is available in this window.

The Hoops have allowed on-loan Alex Valle to return to Barcelona ahead of his proposed move to Como. The player has already said goodbye to Celtic fans, and his departure vacates the space for Tierney’s arrival.

Brendan Rodgers said: “Ideally it would (happen in January) but he’s still at this moment an Arsenal player.

“I think everyone is agreed that will definitely take place in the summer. If we can do it beforehand, then great.”

Tierney missed the first three months of the season with a serious hamstring injury, and the left-back has been told that he can leave the north London club by Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners decided against triggering his one-year contract extension, and as it stands, Celtic are waiting to see if Arsenal will allow Tierney to leave the club on loan before the 3 February transfer deadline.

Arsenal have Ricardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber in the left-back role, and Myles Lewis-Skelly has been emerging as a regular starter. There is a possibility that Tierney could be allowed to join Celtic on loan in the next few days.

He will become the second major signing in the January window if the deal goes through.
