Inter Milan learned their fate for the Champions League knockout rounds tomorrow.

And in truth, there would be very few reasons for the Nerazzurri to complain.

Firstly, Inter have drawn Feyenoord for the round of sixteen.

And while it is never wise to underestimate any opposition at this stage of the Champions League, in truth the Rotterdam team are about as kind of a draw as Inter have gotten.

Feyenoord are missing a number of key players due to injury.

Moreover, the Eredivisie side looked to be teetering on the verge of elimination against AC Milan prior to a Theo Hernandez.

Inter Milan can also look beyond the round of sixteen, however.

Things will get tougher in subsequent knockout rounds, as always.

But Inter could be breathing a sigh of relief at avoiding the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool on their side of the bracket.

Also on the other side of the bracket are Atletico Madrid – the team who eliminated Inter from the Champions League last season – and Arsenal – who the Nerazzurri beat earlier this campaign.

Inter would face either Bayern Munich or Bayer Leverkusen in the quarterfinals, should they overcome Feyenoord.

And then in the semifinals, the most dangerous opposition Inter could face on paper would be Barcelona.

One key aspect that the Gazzetta notes is that in all three knockout rounds prior to the final. Inter would be playing at home.

That is hardly to be overlooked. Particularly after Inter had suffered a second leg defeat away to Atletico last season.

Therefore, Inter have every reason to feel that a second Champions League final within three years is within their grasp.
