According to a report from Sky Germany, Chelsea have entered early discussions regarding a potential summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens. The 20-year-old winger, who once shone brightly in the Bundesliga, now finds himself on the fringes under Niko Kovac’s leadership.
After a dazzling first half of the season — “seven goals & four assists” — Gittens’ form has dipped, leading to a loss of his starting berth. Sky Germany revealed that “initial talks are already underway between those responsible” at Dortmund and Chelsea. The Blues are eager to bring the England youth international back to his homeland, highlighting their enduring commitment to nurturing young English talents.
It’s no secret that the lack of consistent game time has fuelled Gittens’ growing dissatisfaction. As Sky put it, “the lack of playing time also contributes to the fact that Gittens is not completely satisfied with his overall situation in Dortmund.” Despite five years at the club, the player is now reportedly open to taking “the next step.”

Chelsea, sitting sixth in the Premier League, are well-positioned to capitalise on Gittens’ restlessness. They are believed to be offering an attractive salary package — reportedly between six and seven million euros annually — significantly improving on his current three million euros wage at Dortmund.
Sky also confirmed, “Chelsea is already in an exchange with the player side to sound out the chances of a possible transfer,” signalling serious intent from the London club.
While Dortmund may not wish to lose such a promising talent, their position is pragmatic. As per Sky Germany, “with a corresponding offer of between 50 and 60 million euros, Dortmund would be willing to talk.”
This valuation reflects both Gittens’ potential and his contractual security — he remains tied to Dortmund until 2028. Notably, he has already amassed “102 professional appearances, in which he contributed 17 goals and twelve assists,” underscoring his steady development from Manchester City youth ranks to Bundesliga prominence.
However, the Bundesliga giants are not giving up lightly. There have been internal discussions between Gittens’ camp and BVB chief Lars Ricken regarding his future, suggesting that “a stay is not ruled out either” if no satisfactory offers materialise.
Gittens represents a profile Chelsea are increasingly drawn to: quick, technically astute, fearless in one-vs-one situations, and hungry for growth. His familiarity with English football culture, stemming from his Manchester City upbringing, would make the transition smoother than for many Bundesliga exports.
Chelsea’s rebuild under Enzo Maresca demands energetic, versatile forwards who can adapt tactically. Gittens fits the bill perfectly, and crucially, he embodies the long-term project the club is so keen to nurture.

With several first-team attackers’ futures uncertain, a move for the Dortmund winger would be both a strategic and emotional win for Chelsea fans eager to see more homegrown talent light up Stamford Bridge.
As passionate Chelsea supporters, this news couldn’t be more thrilling. Jamie Gittens would be an outstanding addition to Enzo Maresca’s new-look side. Imagine a front line filled with youthful energy, creative flair, and raw ambition — Gittens feels like a player who could embody that vision.
His record at Dortmund, especially at such a young age, shows resilience and talent. It’s easy to get excited about his pace, directness, and ability to create something out of nothing. In Maresca’s possession-based system, Gittens’ explosiveness could be the X-factor, unlocking defences and linking beautifully with the likes of Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke.
The potential deal, even at a hefty €60 million, feels like a necessary investment. With the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk yet to fully cement their places, Gittens could easily make a starting spot his own in a matter of months. A true “back to the Bridge” story for a young Englishman who deserves the spotlight.
In short — bring him home, Todd Boehly. Bring him home.
