Aston Villa 0-1 Chelsea

Scorers: Mayling OG 82'

Chelsea extended their WSL lead to 10 points with a late 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

Sonia Bompastor's side had their work cut out in the Midlands with the hosts withstanding continued spells of pressure from the defending champions.

The Villans almost snatched the spoils when Kirsty Hanson rifled a shot which cannoned back off the crossbar in the closing stages of the contest.

But the Blues took maximum points from a moment of misfortune by Sarah Maylking as she turned Mayra RamĂrez's pass for Maika Hamano into her own net.

Everton 4-1 Leicester

Scorers: Gago 5', 69', Snoeijs 49', Hayashi 57'; O'Brien 16'

Everton produced an emphatic 4-1 victory over Leicester City.

Brian Sørensen's side broke the deadlock through Kelly Gago dispatching from Heather Payne's cutback in the fifth minute of the clash at Walton Hall Park.

But the Foxes pulled level barely 10 minutes later as Shannon O'Brien made inroads on the hosts' penalty area before firing a shot across the face of goal.

The Toffees retook their lead early in the second half when Katja Snoeijs met Gago's cross to the far post following a driving run into the box.

Honoka Hayashi added a third with a stunning long-range drive from outside the box which flew through a swarm of players and nestled in the far corner of the net.

Gago doubled her tally with a simple finish to ensure the hosts' biggest WSL result on home soil since beating Bristol Rovers in January 2021.

Liverpool 1-0 West Ham

Scorers: Kiernan 33'

Liverpool punished West Ham for the second time in a week with a 1-0 win.

The hosts had already inflicted a five-goal drubbing on the Londoners during their Women's FA Cup clash in midweek before Sunday's clash at St Helens' Stadium.

Leanne Kiernan put the Reds ahead shortly after the half-hour mark with a second goal in as many games when she slid home Ceri Holland's delivery into the box.

Matt Beard's side now hold a two-point cushion over local rivals Everton while the Hammers have a five-point cushion .

Brighton 1-1 Crystal Palace

Scorers: Woodham OG 18'; Cato 87'

Crystal Palace left it late to hold Brighton to a 1-1 draw.

Lily Woodham handed the hosts a surprised early lead after her miscontrolled pass back to Milla-Maj Majasaari ran through into the net.

But Dario Vidošić's side were reduced to 10 players early in the second half as Maisie Symonds was issued with a straight red card for her foul on Aimee Everett.

The Eagles were able to take advantage of their additional player by levelling in the final minutes of normal time when My Cato drilled an effort past Melina Loeck.

A late point still did little to prevent the visitors from remaining rooted in the relegation spot while Brighton temporarily edged ahead of Tottenham into fifth.

Manchester City 3-4 Arsenal

Scorers: Fowler 20' (PEN) 55', Miedema 49'; Caldentey 1', Wubben-Moy 8', Maanum 50', Blackstenius 79'

Arsenal won the game of the season so far in the Women's Super League as they edged Manchester City 4-3 to go second in the table.

It was Arsenal who flew out of the blocks early on and netted inside one minute as Mariona Caldentey capitalised on a mistake and netted cooly.

The Gunners doubled their lead soon after as Lotte Wubben-Moy rose highest and headed in from a free kick.

This enthralling game took a new twist on 20 minutes as Mary Fowler ghosted in at the back post and headed in.

Into the second half and City immediately netted an equaliser as Vivianne Miedema pressed Arsenal into a mistake and drove a low effort into the bottom corner.

Astonishingly though, Arsenal went ahead again just a minute later as Frida Maanum netted with a close range effort.

The drama wasn't over there though as Mary Fowler got her second of the game from the penalty spot to level things up.

With 10 minutes to go however, Arsenal got their noses in front again as Stina Blackstenius prodded in a cross.
