In a recent report, journalists Danny Rust and Ben Jacobs mentioned that Chelsea have identified Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers as a target. It is believed that the Blues are eager to secure the services of the English attacker this summer.
Rogers has enjoyed a good run of form at the West Midlands club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 22-year-old has registered 14 goals and picked up 15 goals in 53 matches for the Villans this season in all competitions.
The English talent has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.5 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 75.6% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Villa Park will expire in the summer of 2030. Hence, the Blues would have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting Rogers this off-season.

Rogers is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The English sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also serve as a winger on either flank if required. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea.
We can expect Rogers to bring a lot of quality to Enzo Maresca’s frontline. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming seasons.
At 22, Rogers has got a bright future ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Blues to pursue in this summer transfer window. He might even help Chelsea get back to challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League.
