Chelsea’s have been predicted as having a potentially “crazy” end to the transfer window by some insiders, but so far it’s been very slow and quiet.
In fact, we’re seeing more deals slip through their fingers than we’re being seeing completed. Evan Ferguson was yesterday linked to the Blues about potentially come in as a striker to back up Nicolas Jackson. But today it seems like his most to West Ham is almost done.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ transfer show, Chelsea supporter Paul Merson made it clear that he thought this was the right move from the player’s point of view:
“Evan Ferguson plays at West Ham. He doesn’t play at Chelsea,” Merson said when chatting on Sky’s transfer show, in a clip you can see embedded here:
“With him, he needs to play and if he goes to Chelsea, he plays behind Jackson. If he goes to West Ham, he goes straight into the team. I do like him. When he first got in the Brighton team, he was outstanding and them got a few injuries.
“Then you have to come up with solutions, and then people talk about you and then it becomes harder.
“People get a free hit and then the good ones keep on improving and improving. He will have to do that. If he stays injury-free, he would be a good signing for West Ham.”

Ferguson’s future may be better served by going to West Ham – but what about Chelsea? Are they really going to head into the second half of the season with an out of form Jackson and a teenage Marc Guiu as their only striker options?
Surely that’s just asking for trouble.
