Manchester City reached the 900-goal landmark as a professional outfit in our Barclays Women’s Super League clash against Manchester United.
The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford with Laia Aleixandri and Rebecca Knaak’s first half strikes cancelled out by Grace Clinton and Melvine Malard.
Aleixandri’s strike, an impressive curling finish from a Lauren Hemp cutback, was our 900th since City’s official relaunch in 2014.
It’s just over 12 months since City surpassed the 800-goal landmark in an FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur, with Mary Fowler grabbing the decisive goal.
Just 45 games later and we’ve hit another century, doing so in just 367 competitive fixtures.
In total, 62 different City players have contributed to that tally, including 20 of the current first team squad.
Unsurprisingly, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has provided the most, with 91 goals to her name, while Lauren Hemp has also added an impressive 68 in her 172 appearances.
Georgia Stanway (67), Nikita Parris (62), Caroline Weir (38), Chloe Kelly, Toni Duggan, Ellen White (all 34) and Izzy Christiansen (32) have also given a significant contribution to the 900.
Current stars Jess Park, Laura Coombs, Mary Fowler, Jill Roord and Vivianne Miedema have also all hit double figures, while Gracie Prior was the most recent player to open her account for the Club.
City’s march to those 900 goals has also been complemented by an impressive defensive record, with just 293 conceded at the other end.
Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to such an incredible milestone in the Club’s history!
