Roma manager Claudio Ranieri spoke briefly after the Coppa Italia win over Sampdoria in the Round of 16.
In his post-match interview with Mediaset, “We are definitely not in a good period otherwise they would not have called me.”
“We had to respond after the misstep in Como. The boys had to give a demonstration of will and spirit tonight.”
“I always tell my teams that they have quality, but without determination you cannot do great things. You need a sense of belonging, Como had it. With them we ran more than in other games, but in vain, not making a good impression.”
“Dovbyk? The lad is not training as he should because of physical problems. Coaches help you train better and give you self-esteem. He needs help to get back to his best self.”
“The new coach? The media must create atmosphere and interest. We are focused on this season. If Roma doesn’t recover, we can’t contact top managers.”
“Roma is not a place for everyone, we need a coach who knows how to handle this intensity and the expectations of this place.”
“Only with work can problems be solved. This team has quality and is serious in training. It is normal for a great team to make mistakes at the beginning of the season but the verdict should be made at the end.”
“Dybala? Of course I count on him.”
