Xabi Alonso has long been considered a potential future coach for Real Madrid. While the club remains satisfied with the work Carlo Ancelotti is doing, they are always looking ahead and evaluating options.
If the team falls short of its main objectives this season and fails to secure a major trophy, the club will be prepared to make a decisive move regarding the managerial position.
Within the leadership of Real Madrid, there is a strong consensus that Alonso could be the ideal candidate to take charge of the team.
His outstanding season with Bayer Leverkusen last year proved that he has the tactical knowledge and ability to manage at the highest level. Many within the club believe that he is more than capable of stepping up to lead Real Madrid into its next phase.
Interestingly, both Alonso and Ancelotti have contracts running until 2026, which creates a situation where timing will be crucial in determining any potential changes.

Despite ongoing speculation, Bayer Leverkusen have recently made it clear that they have no intention of letting Alonso leave at the end of the season.
The club’s CEO, Fernando Carro, publicly stated that they fully expect Alonso to remain in charge beyond this campaign. He emphasised that the Spanish coach is happy at Leverkusen and has not indicated any desire to leave.
“We assume that he will be the coach next year,” he stated as quoted by SPORT.
Carro also took the opportunity to highlight the qualities that made Leverkusen appoint Alonso in the first place. His successful playing career, combined with his leadership qualities, made him the perfect candidate to take the club forward.
“He is happy here,” pressed Carro.
For now, Real Madrid continue to monitor the situation, knowing that Alonso remains a strong contender for the future. However, whether a move materialises will depend on how this season unfolds for both Ancelotti and Alonso.
