Arne Slot has enjoyed a strong start to his Liverpool reign winning four out of his opening five competitive outings.
The Reds' perfect start - overcoming Ipswich Town, Brentford and Manchester United - came to an end with a dismal home defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Slot's side responded in remarkable fashion three days later with a dominant 3-1 victory over AC Milan as the Reds kickstarted their latest European adventure at the San Siro.
The arrival of the Dutchman was met with an abundance of excitement and a great sense of intrigue in a new philosophy with a growing interest in which players would thrive under him.
After shining once again for his country, Cody Gakpo's EURO 2024 campaign had Liverpool supporters excited at the prospect of him featuring as a winger in Slot's side rather than a central role where we saw him operate under the legendary Jurgen Klopp.
However, the 25-year-old is yet to feature as regularly as he'd wish, due to the fine start to the season Luis Diaz has made.
The Colombian has netted three times and registered one assist already this campaign.
Gakpo however was handed his first start at the San Siro and certainly made the most of his opportunity, with Slot keen to heap praise on the winger after the game when singling out him and Ryan Gravenberch.
"I was standing just a second ago next to Clarence Seedorf on the desk. They also talked about Ryan and Cody and I said it's a special place for Dutch players to play because of the former players that have played here.
"To put a performance in like this is always nice as a Liverpool player and at a venue like this it's even nicer," Slot said to Liverpool FC.
Gakpo capped off a strong performance by grabbing himself an assist as Dominik Szoboszlai latched onto the Dutchman's cross to take all three points back to Anfield.
Cody Gakpo
In a recent interview with SuperSport, Gakpo underlined the excitement amongst the group to continue learning under their new boss.
"He’s a great manager, he’s direct, he has a new style of play for a lot of us. So he wants to do proper build-up from the back and have a lot of attacks.
"Exciting football he wants to play, but also very intense football. So I think everybody is excited he is here," Gakpo admitted.
The intensity Slot desires from his side flows down into the competition for places amongst the squad too, with healthy competition scattered across the pitch, particularly in forward areas.
Diaz's strong start to the season, responded with Gakpo's San Siro display, will be providing Slot with a serious headache as fixtures begin to mount for the Reds.
