Former Cesc Fabregas teammate Nemanja Matic could follow in Raphael Varane’s footsteps at Como as the club is tempting him away from Lione by also offering him a role off the pitch after the end of his playing career.
The Lariani are said to be willing to add experience to their midfield department and see the 36-year-old as an ideal profile to strengthen the squad, especially with the Spanish coach eager to bring his former Chelsea teammate to the Stadio Sinigaglia.

Previous reports suggested the ex-Premier League star was open to joining the Serie A newcomers upon agreement on economic terms, and according to Sky Sport Italia, Como want to make their offer more attractive by including in the deal a switch to an off-the-field role once the player will hang up his boots.
In that case, Matic’s pathway at the Biancoblu would become similar to Varane’s, as the former Manchester United star decided to retire from professional football after an injury marked his opening months at the club, only to remain at Como as a board member.
Despite his age, the former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder still plays a relevant role at Lyon, as he racked up 14 Ligue 1 appearances this season, starting 12 times.
