The Football Association have confirmed the team of match officials to oversee the FA Cup quarter-final tie between Bournemouth and Manchester City this weekend.
Pep Guardiola and his players are closing in on what is their final chance at silverware in a hugely disappointing season across competitions thus far, having exited the Premier League title race in December and being knocked out of the Champions League before the last-16.
Performances in the FA Cup have been stronger than other competitions albeit with standard of opposition lower than elsewhere, having knocked out Salford City, Leyton Orient, and Plymouth Argyle en route to the last-eight of the tournament.
Bournemouth will no doubt provide a stern test for the back-to-back finalists of this competition and the winners of 2023, with Andoni Iraola’s side having already inflicted defeat on City once already this campaign at the Vitality Stadium.
The clash on the south coast is the first outing post-international break, and Guardiola will be desperately hoping that the change of scenery and pause from club duties will bring about a fresh outlook from his players until the end of the campaign.
Ahead of the meeting between Bournemouth and Manchester City, the Football Association have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!
The Football Association have confirmed that experienced top-flight official Stuart Attwell will oversee the contest between Bournemouth and Manchester City at the Vitality Stadium this weekend.
The 42-year-old will be taking charge of his 24th match across all competitions this season, having overseen fixtures in the Premier League, Championship, UEFA Nations League, UEFA Conference League, and Carabao Cup among others.
This will also be the 23rd match involving Manchester City that Attwell has taken charge of, with the record of the Etihad Stadium club in outings overseen by this referee reading as 16 wins, one draw, and five defeats.
However, Manchester City have not seen themselves officiated by Stuart Attwell since the very first competitive game of last season, when they fell to a penalty shoot-out loss at the hands of Arsenal in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
Accompanying Stuart Attwell on the pitch on the south coast this weekend will be an assistant referee pairing of Neil Davies and Constantine Hatzidakis, while semi-automated offside technology will also be in play.
From the VAR Hub for the meeting between Bournemouth and Manchester City, Thomas Bramall has been appointed as Video Assistant Referee with Nick Hopton as Assisant Video Assistant Referee, and Michael Salisbury in position as Support Video Assistant Referee.
Standing between the two dugouts and ensuring that all is in check between Andoni Iraola and Pep Guardiola’s respective benches, Andrew Madley has been appointed as the Fourth Official for this contest.
