In a mouth-watering affair in the capital this weekend, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will be hoping to add further gloss to an already-stellar season for their supporters by reaching the FA Cup final as they aim for a first piece of silverware since a play-off win in 2022.

As for Manchester City, they will be hoping that they can bring a rare smile to the faces of supporters this season in what has been a drab campaign all round, with the FA Cup potentially following the Community Shield in being added to the trophy cabinet this season.

Ahead of the meeting between Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, the Football Association have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at Wembley Stadium!

Match Referee

The Football Association have confirmed that the experienced Michael Oliver has been appointed as the on-field match referee for the clash between Nottingham Forest and Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Northumberland-born official will be overseeing his 39th game across all competitions this season, with his disciplinary record standing at 169 yellow cards handed out, alongside seven second bookable offence dismissals, two red cards, and eight penalties awarded.

The 40-year-old has overseen matches across competitions in the English game, into the continent, and on international breaks, with outings in the likes of the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Nations League among others.

This weekend will be Michael Oliver’s 61st match featuring Manchester City, who have a record of 44 wins, six draws, and 10 defeats in matches officiated by the experienced referee, and the last match involving him coming at the end of last year in a 0-2 away win over Leicester City.

Oliver has also taken charge of one meeting involving Manchester City and Nottingham Forest already this season, handling the two clubs’ clash at the Etihad Stadium back in early December, won 3-0 by Pep Guardiola’s side.

Other matches involving Manchester City and Michael Oliver this season have also seen a 2-1 defeat away to Bournemouth, a 2-2 home draw with Arsenal, and a 1-3 away win at West Ham United back in August.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Michael Oliver out on the pitch at Wembley Stadium will be an assistant referee pairing of Stuart Burt and Dan Cook, while Constantine Hatzidakis is on standby as the reserve assistant referee for the contest.

Video Assistant Referees

Watching the second FA Cup semi-final of the weekend from Stockley Park will be a three-man team of VAR officials with Andrew Madley in position as Video Assistant Referee alongside Assistant Video Assistant Referee, Craig Taylor.

Making it a trio will be fellow top-flight referee Jarred Gillet, who is in position as the Support Video Assistant Referee this weekend.

Fourth Official

Standing between Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City dugouts will be Premier League referee Sam Barrott, in the role of fourth official at Wembley Stadium.
